A brief on City Ballet…(Damian Woetzel gets 5 curtain calls!)

June 14, 2008 · 1 Comment

I hit the ballet tonight (thanks Philip!)–there were lots of cast changes and fun moments! I’ll be writing about it in full tomorrow morning, but I HAD to post about Damian’s performance in “Prodigal Son.” He got 5 curtain calls, and on the fourth one, someone threw a bouquet of flowers onto the stage!

In addition, the audience was applauding like crazy when Janie Taylor danced, and of course all Sara Mearns had to do was blink and they were going wild.

According to the program, Darci Kistler is injured so she was replaced in “Thou Swell” with Sara Mearns, and <Rebecca Krohn danced Sara’s original role. Benjamin Millepied was also slated for the last Balanchine piece, but was replaced by Andrew Veyette.
