Just in case you weren’t aware, there’s an argument going on about Anne Midgette on my post about her gig as interim chief music critic at the Washington Post. Anne is a friend, but I’m staying out of it as much as possible and not censoring the comments though I disagree with them.
I’m glad that people pay so much attention to critics in Washington that they’re willing to debate about them. That’s such a departure from what I’m accustomed to. This shows that: 1. The people care about the music criticism, and the critic themselves. 2. They believe that what the critic says will effect the musicians (if they didn’t, I doubt they would be as passionate) and 3. They’ve obviously grown attached their former critic over the years.
