Fashion Week: Day 5, unexpected fun.

February 6, 2008 · 2 Comments

I only had two morning shows scheduled for today: Tibi and Monique Lhillier. I woke at 6 a.m., dressed casually and raced to the Fashion Week tents at 8:30 a.m.

The Tibi show was much too packed for the Salon, and I was forced to experience my first “standing” show (at other shows I had a seat). I was extremely impressed with the designs for their fall line, there were so many great pieces I know I’ll buy in fall. There were so many celebrities that I can’t recall them all. After Tibi I spotted Anna Wintour (that’s the third time this week) and later that night would see Jaslene from “Americas Next Top Model.” I’ve met at least three new people every day, including a fashion show set designer from London and a guy doing the voice-overs for Smirnoff commercials.

I was scheduled for the Monique Lhillier show, but found that my name wasn’t on the list. So I headed home via subway, grabbed a bite and slept from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. A text message from my boss had me back at the tents by 5:30.

My boss and her business partner received confirmation for the Mastroianni show. The crowd was so sparse that I was seated in the second row (super close) and viewed all the intricate beading of her designs close up, as well as what was happening backstage. After the show we all had drinks at the open bar, and met a big-wig from Olympus who gave us his seats to the Vivienne Tam show.

The show was large enough to fit in the Promenade, but had enough empty seats for everyone. Another spectacular showing of great pieces (mostly cocktail dresses). Before hitting home I stopped at Cafe Metro for a sandwich, hailed a cab, and am now flipping through photos from the shows. I’ll be posting them very soon!
