Fashion Week: Day 1, the schedule

February 1, 2008 · 6 Comments

Last night I received my Fashion Week schedule, and pouted sadly when I noticed that I wouldn’t have to attend any shows today or Saturday. By morning I was much too excited to stay at home so I dressed and braved the cold rain to Bryant Park.

I just wanted a little taste of the event, so I walked by the tent entrance. I called up my boss who sent me to retrieve her show invitations at her office–I swear I thought I saw Arden Wohl (the socialite) dodging puddles on the sidewalk.

My schedule is really simple so far, though my boss warns that she could add more shows at a moments notice. I’m hitting three really exciting ones: Tibi  and Monique Lhuillier on Tuesday (I almost bought one of Lhuillier’s wedding dresses for my debutante ball), and Malan Breton  from Project Runway. When Malan was kicked off the show, he cried and gave a speech about how the show allowed him to have friends and “be a part of something.” I felt so sad for him that I, like a sap, cried too. So I’m thrilled that I’m going to see his designs, especially since he was my favorite that season.

I’m also going to about four or five more, including Lela Rose and R. Scott French, and have a “wish list” of other shows that I hope invitations come in soon for. But until then, I’ll always keep you posted.

So, can you still go to all the shows, even the ones you’re not assigned to write about — or do you need specific invitations to each individual show? I’m so excited to hear about it!!! And, hehe, you had a debutante ball?? I must hear about that - - you should write an essay about it!

I have to have specific inviations to the induvidual shows, but they come in almost all day long, so everytime I look up a new one is added to the schedule!

Yeah, haha I was presented in a charity ball in Mobile, all the money that the debs parents pay goes to a specific cause, and then they have a ball for us!

Thanks Philip :) I can’t wait to go to the show on Sunday to tell you all about it!

Are you going to Project Runway show, which I think takes place during Fashion Week?

Please don’t write about results (or please warn ahead of time if you do so i don’t read them). This is one of few reality shows I like watching and I’d be devastated to hear the results early!!

    Ariel, congratulations on this opportunity!

As of yet, I’m not going to the Project Runway show :-( But don’t worry I won’t spill the beans! Thanks!
