Last week I posted this when I heard that there was going to be a “Center Stage 2″…
Worst case scenario: a film about a straight-laced ballerina who like to tear-it-up doing hip-hop every once and a while. I pray it’s not like that at all.
I found out a few moments ago from Tonya that it could be true! I was so against that plot-line because it’s so overdone…used both in “Step Up,” and in “Save the Last Dance” one and two, though it’s hyped up more in the second film.
Dione and I were talking about dance films, and she mentioned to me “Dancers”a film made in 1987 with Alessandra Ferri, Julie Kent, Baryshinkov, and Leslie Browne. I heard it was a flop, but now I’m itching to see it.

Argh. I was so excited. Now I’m so frustrated. Have we not seen this “ballet dancer does hip hop” movie (or vice versa) like (1…2…3…
4! times already.
I’ll still watch it a million times even if it’s horrid though.

Yeah I agree, I’ll probably still watch it too!

I know! I long for the great dance movies of the past too — like The Turning Point and White Nights. I guess the greatest draw of the Center Stage movies is that the stars are actually celebrated ballet dancers and not just actors. I’ve never been able to find Dancers, but I’ve wanted to see it — am going to go look for it again now!

Yeah, you guys definitely need to check it out! Even though I haven’t watched it yet..it’s already my favorite movie. Why? Because Kenny Wormald is the lead male and he’s the most amazing, phenomenal dancer ever. He’s insanely talented. =D And Misha Gabriel is in it too. He is crazy talented too. So make sure you watch!!!

Hey Victoria: Wow thanks for all the tips about “Dancers!”
And Vic, that’s so cool that you know the lead dancer! I wonder how long it will be till it comes out?

Dear Uknow,
Why the sour grapes? Have you ever heard if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it? The film just wrapped and is still in editing. You have not seen it, so how can you make a comment like “Hilarious! Rachele Smith is a joke.. lots of editing in this movie i see HAHAHA”?
Here is my take. I have worked with Rachele and seen her work. She is as beautiful on the inside as on the outside and has loads of talent. Possibly the reason why you have made such a comment is because she has more talent in her pointer toe than you havein your entire body and that is why “YOU” never made the cut. That lack of pride, perseverance and your insecurity is why you did not leave your name or contact information. You probably don’t have the drive she has to push the envelope and forge ahead towards success.

writingariel: Yeah, you definitely need to check Kenny and Misha out; they are BY FAR my favorite dancers eva. My main reason for wanting to watch the movie is because Kenny’s in it. I had the privilege to meet them, and it was the best experience of my life. ☺

We actually have an article written by Matt Murphy (ranting details) in the issue of movmnt on newsstands in 2 weeks. It’s a portrait/interview with Kenny Wormald, the lead of Center Center Stage 2.

Hi David, thanks for the information! I’ll definitely want to pick up a copy and read about the film!

I’m extremely excited about another installment but my one disappointment was the role of “charlie” was reprised with the same actor/dancer at all. I’ll still wanna see it but he was a big part of it being a great dancer and good looking too!

Rachele Smith is talented and a dear friend and I don’t think she would ever do anything under par. She has been doing dance, gymanastics since the age of three. If there is one talent that can create a movie about dance she is the one.

Thanks, David! I’m definitely picking one of those up. Where can I get it in Canada? And if I subscribe to it online right now, will I get the issue with Kenny in it?

JPgameday13: Yeah, Kenny is the sickest dancer EVER.
Where have you seen the trailer?! There aren’t any that are released yet.

I used to teach Rachele and she is one of the nicest people, and definitely the hardest worker ever.
I wish her much success because she deserves it!
