Mobile Arts: NYCB dancers are awesome.

I’ve been dying to tell you how tonight went–if you don’t remember, it was the night I was supposed to interview a few of the New York City Ballet dancers coming in for Mobile Ballet’s “A Gala Evening.” To make a long story short, everyone was amazingly nice. I had such cool interviews and memorable moments!

I would write a long, expository piece on every little thing, but I’ll keep it short and sweet and write more later:

I interviewed Amanda Edge, Albert Evans, Daniel Ulbricht and Rachel Rutherford! They were all so great, especially Albert who has such an amazing sense of humor and even called Dione his “little ballerina!” I got to watch some of the rehearsal from the wings, Albert offered me a seat, I interviewed Rachel and Amanda while they stretched on the carpet, and caught a few words with Daniel which was so surreal! Especially after watching him in all those “Romeo + Juliet” videos online, it felt like I was watching a video of him instead of the really interviewing him!

It’s interesting that Amanda Edge was there with the City Ballet dancers since she supposedly has left that Company - but obviously the dancers all remain on a friendly basis. I look forward to reading your interviews. Albert is the greatest guy.

Yeah, I thought it was interesting. When I was doing my initial research on all the dancers, I found it so odd that she wasn’t on their site, then learned later that she left to do “Phantom of the Opera” in Las Vegas! But yeah, they were so happy to get to watch her dance again.

Albert IS so nice. You’re right! I’ll be sure to post a link to the newspaper article as soon as it comes out! Thanks for reading.

PS: Tonya has told me so much about you! When I went and saw NYCB’s “Four Voices” in May, I looked for you in the 4th ring!

Amanda has always been one of my favorite dancers and it’s good to see that she’s dancing with her old colleagues. I wish she would re-join NYCB!

Let me know the next time you will be at a NYCB performance!
